ESXi 6.0 October 2015 "NETDEV WATCHDOG" Patch (Build 3073146)

VMware has published a patch for ESXi 6.0

Product: VMware ESXi 6.0
Release date: October 6, 2015
Patch: ESXi600-201510001
Build: 3073146
Links: KB2132152 | Download

The ESXi Installable has also been replaced with ESXi 6.0 Update 1a:

The update resolves a critical network issue with the following symptoms:

  • The ESXi 6.0 host might randomly lose network connectivity
  • The ESXi 6.0 host becomes non-responsive and unmanageable until reboot
  • After reboot, the issue is temporarily resolved for a period of time, but occurs again after a random interval
  • Transmit timeouts are often logged by the NETDEV WATCHDOG service in the ESXi host. You may see entries similar to the following in the /var/log/vmkernel.log file:

cpu0:33245)WARNING: LinNet: netdev_watchdog:3678: NETDEV WATCHDOG: vmnic0: transmit timed out
    cpu0:33245)WARNING: at vmkdrivers/src_92/vmklinux_92/vmware/linux_net.c:3707/netdev_watchdog() (inside vmklinux)

  1. Do you happen to have these also AFTER installing the above patch ?

'Issue detected on bumblebeeESX in Cluster
: IntrCookie: 3411: Interrupt received on invalid vector (cpu 15, vector 70); ignoring it. (2015-10-08T12:

    1. I am having this exact problem on my test cluster. 1 out of 3 servers having this issue. I cannot see any other problems with it, and have logged a case with VMWare.

  2. Installed this patch on two working R710 hosts and now their iSCSI NICs are no longer able to communicate (not iSCSI, not vMotion, not ICMP). The built-in NICs used for management are working fine. I installed as a patch and installed the updated ISO from scratch with the same results. Have a supported HP NC375i quad GB adapter for iSCSI. Can't find anyone else with this problem.

  3. Good Day All.
Just installed this recommended version on 3 Blades HP Proliant BL 460c Gen8, they form a Cluster and randomly They and their VMs show Disconnected like for 20 - 30 Seconds.
If I go to \Configuration\Network Adapters\ The Emulex Corporation HP FlexFabric 10Gb 2-port 554FLB Adapter shows:
    Device Speed Configured
    vmnic1 1000 Full 1000 Full
    vmnic0 1000 Full 1000 Full
    vmnic3 1000 Full Negotiate
    vmnic2 1000 Full Negotiate
when they were on VSphere 5.1 all the NICs Showed as Negotiate on the Configured TAB.
Could this be the issue, vmnic1 and vmnic0 being on 1000 Full?
How do I change them from 1000 Full to Negotiate?
    Thanks a lot.
