VMware Cloud Director Quick Tip - API Explorer (Swagger) not visible for Org Admins

In VMware Cloud Director 10, the API Explorer (Swagger) is not visible for Organization Administrators.

When they try to access /api-explorer/tenant/[ORG]/, an HTTP ERROR 403 - Forbidden is shown.

The right to use the API Explorer is not part of the default rules set. To allow tenants to use the API Explorer, edit the Rights Bundle and default Role:

NSX-T: Client 'admin' exceeded request rate of 100 per second.

NSX-T has a default API rate limit of 100 requests per second, per client. This limit is sometimes already triggered when you are using the GUI with multiple people using the admin account. If you are using the API to get status information or configure your platform, you very likely know the error. When you exceed the limit, the following message is displayed.

NSX-T: How to create a Principal Identity

In NSX-T, you can't create local users. Except for the three default users admin, root, and audit, you have to connect to an LDAP server or integrate NSX-T with VMware Identity Manager to authenticate with additional users. Additionally to normal users, NSX-T has the concept of Principal Identities, which are certificate-based users that can create objects that only the user itself can modify or delete.

Send NSX Edge Gateway Statistics to Graphite

To monitor VMware NSX Edge Gateways I want to send interface statistics to my Graphite installation. NSX Manager comes with a REST API that allows to pull information in XML or JSON format. I've created a script that pulls Interface, Firewall and Load Balancer statistics from all ESGs and sends them to a Carbon Relay. This allows to create universal custom dashboards with Grafana for example.
